Clare & The Reasons
Remember when you were 15 years old singing the Cardigans‘ “Lovefool” song front of the bathroom mirror with your toothbrush as a microphone. Now you like japanese electronic music and US weird indie rock, feeling ashamed of your past. Maybe it’s time with Clare & The Reasons to bring back your 90’s youthful innocence.
Of course the comparison between Clare Muldaur’s voice and Nina Persson is inevitable. Same mellow and teenage tone, same apparent easiness of singing. But this NY singer-songwriter seems to give proof of more maturity.
And she also can rely on a talented backing band: The Reasons. This sextet’s music oscillate between pop and classical. Giving to Clare’s voice all the space she needs. Listen to the pizzicato introduction of their song Pluto and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
